What is a Miracle?
A baby whale, hours old, still with wrinkles and small enough to be mistaken for a dolphin
– until you see mama!

The baby spy hops to see the
Dolphin TLC. This is the first boat and
humans that the baby sees.

“Those humans are so small –
and what are those tiny furry things with 4
legs?” thinks Baby Whale. The baby whale is so
cute and curious! Tiffany & Pluto are awed like
the rest of us to meet the humpback whales.

Blessings to know this baby will be safe in Hawaiian waters and
will never know the horrors of whale hunting.

Mother Whale brings her baby over to the Dolphin TLC to cruise along the edge of the hull, as if to introduce baby to the hull of a boat and
say; “This is a safe boat, engines are off and the people love us! Listen to their excitement to meet you
and me, Mother Whale.”

What makes a miracle in your life?
The sound of laughter in your children’s voices?
The loving look from your partner? The finalization of a contract on a deal you worked hard to bring in?
The white snow glistening in the sun? Seeing the first tulip show its radiant self through a spring snow?
Hearing the breath of a Humpback Whale? A dolphin swimming by and catching your eye?
Experiencing the wonder of the Humpback Whales with us in Kona?
There is so much in life we have to cause a pause and feel our heart full with another miracle.
The Whales are miraculous beings — large and powerful yet oh-so gentle. They look at us with their loving eye, deep with wisdom. We hear their powerful breath and the roar of a male in pursuit of his partner. The four months they grace our waters along the Kona Coast brings an extra dimension to our Dolphin Journeys that is rich and exciting.

Indeed, we are grateful to have them
in our world.

New Office Staff at Dolphin Journeys

Let’s welcome a new member of Dolphin Journey’s team; Jeanie. She has come on board to be our office wizard, and seems to making friends fast. The office is humming with a sense of uplifted spirit and efficiency.

Our wonderful Karen, the email wizard, left in December for a “walk about”, last heard from traveling through Vietnam. Karen was with us for 4 years and responded to thousands of emails and was well loved by many of you.

Jeanie is taking the assignment and up-leveled the position, expanding into all dimensions of administration. So I can do what I do best; be on the boat with you all, the dolphins and whales, and not worry about those phone calls that need answering and paper work chores that have deadlines.

I am grateful to have Jeanie and blessed for her skill, cheerfulness and sweet spirit she brings to the job.

Interns at Dolphin Journeys

This summer our intern will be a young lady from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, Amanda. We are looking forward to working with her and UNCW.

Amanda’s words when asked what she wants to share with the dolphins about her passions: ” I love the ocean! One of my passions
in life is to help make people happy and for me the ocean helps me to relax, so I want to help others explore nature to bring smiles across their faces as well.”

Amanda is a Parks and Recreation Major and will receive a full semester of senior college credit for her internship with Dolphin Journeys. Other interns from UNCW have been Keith and Marc, who you might have met.

I enjoy having the students working and learning at Dolphin Journeys. They receive a lot of experience, gain confidence, work ethics, and learn what a business serving the visitor industry is all about. Interwoven is some fun and adventure.

I have made a few new items for the gift shop.

It is fun to have souvenirs of the dolphins you actually meet. The designs are simple and mostly come from our collection of photos. If there is a particular design you would like on a shirt, let me know
