Kona Hawaii
Big Island Earthquake
We survived the Kona Big Island earthquake in October 2006! The
dolphins, Nancy, Tiffany & Pluto, the Dolphin TLC and Dolphin
Journeys' staff & office are fine. We
lost some ‘stuff’ and lots of things crashed to the floor. The
house appears sound and no serious harm.
The boat, Dolphin TLC,
was not disturbed at all. It must have bounced very well on the
trailer. Then again, it is made to rock and roll with the sea.
“Thank You!” to every one who called and wrote emails with your
concern regarding our well being after the big Kailua-Kona earthquake. It was a
frightful experience. Your care and interest is very much
appreciated. We had limited phone access. It took 10 days to get
the landline working and the cell phone was not so good either.
Now it is the internet and email that is on again off again.
Karen comes into work and we have no internet to run credit
cards or respond to inquiries. A tough way to run a business,
with variable communication.
We are in full operation and very blessed to be in such good
order.
Blessings Be!

Introducing the Dolphin Gift Shop
Dolphin Journeys is happy to announce the creation of our
Dolphin Gift Shop. I have been adding items for the past few
months and having a lot of fun creating items. I am using the
best photos taken over the years to make tees, mugs, coasters,
tote bags, greeting cards, baby items and many other things.
I am doing a little drawing, creating ‘Thank You’ and ‘Birthday
Cards’. Do you have a favorite saying you would like on a card?
Visit our
Dolphin Journeys gift shop today!
Do some Christmas shopping, pick up a memento of your Dolphin
Journey and your Kona Vacation or buy some Cards to keep on
hand. This is a direct printing program, so the printer will
ship the item directly to you.
Any suggestions? Any photos you want on a T-shirt or tote bag
for personalized gifts? There is a learning curve here for me,
Capt. Nancy, and I am having fun with it.
Mahalo in advance for your support of this endeavor.

Humpback
Whales
Our beautiful giants, the humpback whales,
have come to enjoy the warm
winter Kona water. We saw the very first one last Friday, Nov.
3rd. The Dolphin TLC was the first boat in Kona to report a
sighting. The whale breached 3 times – as if to say; “Hello – I
am happy to be in Kona and see you all again this year!”.
For the most part, we dependably see the humpback whales Dec –
March. They spend the winter along the Kona Coast giving birth
and making love. It is exciting and we have wonderful whale
watching on most Dolphin Journeys. We also have an afternoon
‘Whale Watch’, when we go out just for the whales. It is
fabulous for your friends who want all whales and/or visitors
who are not so keen to swim, would rather just watch from the
boat. Nature photographers especially find this a great rip to
get amazing photos.
The Humpback Whales are the most energetic of the large whales,
which is part of the excitement of watching them. It seems we
see more activity in the afternoons. Maybe it is because that is
where all our attention is. We hope to witness the famous
breach. The male Humpback Whales sing a song that is unique each
year. It is awesome to hear!
Check out some of the photos from last season in our
online Photo Gallery. Dolphin Journeys had some awesome
nature/wildlife photographers on board. I encourage you to
purchase their photos. You will also find links to their
websites.
Aloha!
