About the Sea Life Internship: The Sea Life Program, the educational arm of Dolphin Journeys, offers an amazing internship program for young adults called ‘The Dolphin Pod Internship.’ Our internship program appeals to students of a variety of degrees. Our activities include snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, scuba diving on the magnificent Hawaiian coral reefs and evenings with manta rays, touring the Volcanoes National Park and magical sunset cruises along the Kona Coast.

 

Feel informed and inspired! This internship is designed to inform and inspire you about marine mammals, a small business enterprise, Hawaiian volcanoes and the Hawaiian culture. This internship is all about learning, fun, hard work and adventure. Interns become an integral part of the staff and participate in all aspects of the business with hands on experience facilitated by the primary personnel. Whether you are on the boat, swimming with dolphins, offering instruction to our guests, attending to office duties, or organizing & cleaning equipment, you will be learning valuable life skills. You can be assured that you will develop maturity, gain job experience and learn and become more proficient in many aspects of business and customer service.

 

Who should apply: We welcome college majors in a variety of fields including and not exclusive to: Recreation & Parks, Tourism & Hospitality, Marine Sciences, Ecology, Business, Education, Marketing, Oceanography, Biology, Zoology, Sports and Travel. Interns looking for college credit and those looking for experience are accepted.

 

An internship with Dolphin Journeys is more than just boats, swimming and diving. These are the activities and vehicles of a much bigger experience. You will interact with people from all over the world, likely having experiences with dolphins which will be life changing for you and them. We operate from a philosophy of ‘love is the answer’ and invite you to gain an attitude of kind and compassionate service.

 

What to expect: An intern can expect lots of fun and ‘hard work.’ If you are looking for a way to kick back and get a sun tan, hit the tropical nightlife, then swim with some dolphins by day, this program is not for you. We have high expectations of excellence and everyone on the team works hard. Physically, you need to be able to work on the ocean in the hot sun and be fit for long days of physical activity. Emotionally, you must be ready for growth and mentally, expect to have your mind expanded. We consider this internship a mutually beneficial experience.
