So while flying broomsticks may be too much for magic realism in our world, if magical realism stories are written for the wizard world, they can be freely used (though I wonder what will be used to create the 'magic' in magical realism.) In brief, I would say, in fantasy, the suspension of disbelief required from the reader is so great that he/she needs to create a new world to manage it; while, in magical realism, the suspension required is very little (or may not be needed at all for some.) To answer the second part, I feel that magic realism is more difficult to achieve, because of this constraint of not fiddling with reality.
